In
the year 1981, Mike Brooks bought a semi dump truck. This may not conjure up
images of infancy, but it was the baby that got things rolling at Mike Brooks,
Inc. The one-employee company's mission was to haul coal from mines in southern
Iowa to utilities throughout the state. A short period of time later the
company received authority to haul fertilizer in 5 states, thereby creating a
necessity for two trucks. In 1983 the first van was purchased, Mike filed
papers of incorporation, and that marked the beginning of strong growth that
continues today. 
Mike Brooks is a man of his word and a hard
worker. Even today you occasionally find Mike behind the wheel of a bright red
truck, experiencing life on the road. His straight-forward approach has served
him well in building an organization of like-minded people.
